Dinner Time Table Talk

Ruth lived in the time of the judges. Her story shows remarkable faith and illustrates a theme of redemption.

After Ruth lost her father-in-law, brother-in-law and husband, she left her parents and all she'd ever known to set off for Judah with her mother-in-law, Naomi. A Place she'd never known. Her faith and loyalty spread accross the land after she and Naomi made the voyage back to Judah to the city of Bethlehem.

Ruth finds a way to support her mother-in-law working tirelessly from sunrise to sunset collecting the grain. Boaz, a wealthily man who owned the fields that Ruth gleaned in, saw Ruth and asked his harvesters who she was and they told him the story of Ruth. Boaz showed favor to Ruth offering her food and protection. Eventually, Boaz buys back Naomi's land, marries Ruth and they have a child to keep the family alive.

In this story we see God take a poor, hurt woman, and watch Him heal her, provide for her and bring her great love.
  1. What can we learn from Ruth?
  2. How many children did Ruth and Boaz have?
  3. Where was Ruth originally from?
Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as, “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
